Application of Simple System for Ultrasonic Aeroponics on the Rooting of Pentas and Chrysanthemum

Abstract
A simple ultrasonic aeroponic system was built and the device was found to be very effective in application to the rooting experiments of cuttings of Pentas lanceolata and Chrysanthemum morifolium cv. Whang Bong. It was shown that cuttings of Pentas and Chrysanthemum under fog by ultrasonic aeroponics system (on and off minutes: 1M/10M) using tap water only advanced the rooting about 10 and 7 days over that of cuttings treated in soil medium, respectively, when evaluated by R_(50) value. On rooting of Pentas cuttings, treatment of 30 ¥ìM NAA in ultrasonic aeroponics system (1M/10M) was very effective in both rooting percentage and rooting status whereas treatments of EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) or Put (putrescine) mixture with NAA (Naphthalene acetic acid) were not effective. Among treatments of ultrasonic aeroponics system (1M/10M) with additions of NAA, ABA (Abscisic acid), DCPTA (N,N-diethylaminoethyl 3,4-dichlorophenyl ether) or aspirin (Acetylsalicylic acid), or tap water only for the rooting of Chrysanthemum cuttings, both tap water and DCPTA were effective in rooting speed (3 weeks) but not the case in rooting status whereas aspirin showed significantly better results in rooting status.
